Every day we play so many roles- mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, employee, employer and so many others. Being a woman we don many hats. And these so many hats lay a burden on us. We get exhausted mentally and physically and emotionally too. All these loads and burdens create stress in our day to day life and ultimately this stress creates a complete chaos in our life and in the life of those around us. Somewhere our family and kids suffer the brunt of our stress.
So how do we unwind???? We tell you how you can de-stress, unwind and keep a check on your stress. It’s a fact you cannot completely eliminate stress from your lives but can surely curb it or reduce it to a great extent.
Here are 10 techniques you can use to manage your stress and unwind this summer:
- ‘Me’ time.
As mothers most of the moms never get the ‘Me’ time, in other words, time for ourselves. We are always taking care of our kids, husband, family, and work. So it is essential for us to take off sometime for ourselves. Do what you want to do or what you really like to do. Read a book; listen to your favourite music, or engage yourself in gardening if you like. But spend some time discovering yourself.
- Learn yoga or meditation.
Yoga, meditation and deep breathing techniques are great way to beat the stress. They calm your mind and give you inner peace.
- Smile and laugh.
At home create an atmosphere where there is laughter and smiles around you. A happy atmosphere is a great stress buster. Hearing your kids’ giggles and laughter also reduces stress to a very great extent.
- Plan ahead.
We get disturbed when things don’t go as a routine. Every morning I get stressed when my son is not ready on time for school and my husband is yelling because he is getting late for work. I become hot headed and my temper flies out of the roof. Thus planning a day before helps things move smoothly. Lay out your kids’ clothes, plan and make preparations for the meals a day in advance. Planning ahead is a boon for us women.
- Spend time with friends.
Give yourself some girly time with your friends as you get to unwind from your daily routine life.
- Get up early.
Getting up 15 minutes early gives you a head start for the new day. You don’t feel hurried and are able to work smoothly. In a hurry we tend to overload our mind with tension and then stress is created.
- Relax your expectations.
What if you’re household chores is not running on schedule? So what if your lawn is not mowed for a week? It’s not the end of the world. Slow down. Adapt to changes.
- Speak out.
Share your feelings and thoughts with your loved ones, either a friend or your husband whomever you feel comfortable with.
- Simplify your life.
Set your priorities in life at the given stage. Do not entangle yourself between needs and wants. Learn to differentiate between the two.
- Don’t ignore yourself.
Putting others before us is one bad habit we women have. Take yourself seriously and give yourself and your own health a little more importance. Eat properly and on time, have a balanced and fulfilling diet, exercise regularly and be happy.
All these factors surely help in de-stressing which is very important for us women. As they say woman is the heart of the family and if the heart doesn’t function properly, the entire body will start to malfunction. So for your family to be happy you need to be happy and in control.
