With summer round the corner, most moms have been thinking of innovative ways to keep the kids busy and occupied with fun activities during this summer. The first and the last thought which comes in our mind is that our child should be active, healthy and be productively busy and have fun holidays. The activeness and fitness can be achieved if we take care of them properly. As we all know that summer is almost here, and that means the kids will be on vacation at home from school very soon. As parents we’re always looking for ways to keep our kids entertained during their summer vacation and also making sure that they stay active and healthy. Now the question arrives why we are focusing on the word called “active”? Because, it has various benefits for the kid.
Benefits to keep you kid active
Kids should be physically fit so they can do number of things. Its best for your child to practice a regular exercise regime as it provides the benefits mentioned below:Glued to electronic devices and Gadgets
In this age of electronic gadgets and devices children today are glued to mobile phones, I-pads, laptops and television. In a nutshell, they seldom play physically exhausting games. I have a son who is in 5th std, a few weeks ago at night I told my son to just go to bed at 10pm , and he was like ‘ mamma this is the last serial I need to watch, I want to know that what will happen in the next week,” I somehow coaxed him to go to sleep. However to my surprise the very first thing before he could wish me or my hubby “Good morning” he instead asked his father what was the climax of the episode. I was certainly shocked. It’s not that I am against these things like watching TV playing games on mobiles but at a certain limit, one should not get addicted to it.
The change that worked wonderfully for us
Since, that day we now follow a routine of “No Gadgets” or “No electronic devices” for more than 45 minutes each day, which again is divided in to 15 minutes at a time. Lastly, 2 hrs before sleep it’s just family time and “No Television”. We now either play board games, read stories, go for a stroll or just laze around having cushion fights, tickling roaring with laughter. This change in pattern has certainly worked in favor of my son adapting healthy habits and has certainly as a family given us more opportunity to laugh, cheer and have fun filled memories for life.
Plans of fun filled robust activities for this summer
This summer too I have made sure that my son is not glued to technological devices, yet spends his time creatively and actively enjoying every facet of life. As a parent I find this as a challenge to help him find physical activities he will enjoy and feel motivated to explore more. The games that will make my child active are the traditional sports like basket ball, martial arts, cycling, hiking, and random playing outside with peers.
As our kids get older, differences in ability and personality become more apparent. Commitment and the interest level often let go with the ability which is why it is vital to find an activity that is right for your child. This summer make a list of the things that your child needs to do on a regular basis. For e.g. swimming is very best exercise for the kid to grow and to build activeness in body. Moreover, the whole family can participate together in the activity and enjoy some family time together too and relax oneself this summer and find some remorse from the hot weather.
Here are some types of toys that will make them active
Toys don’t mean material objects alone. Fun activities and time spent with family and friends enjoying is far better than a materialistic toy. So, get going to explore the varied toy activities your kid seems to enjoy and plan a fun –filled healthy summer vacation for your child.
Bungee boing: the best thing about the bouncy bungee boing, other than being fun, is that it helps the kids to stay fit active and develop balancing skills.
Boochie: it is an Italian lawn bowling game; boochie brings the whole family together in the fun. With the silly commands like standing on one leg or throwing the ball behind your back, laughter is guaranteed.
Chess: Chess is totally a mind game that will help your child grow mentally strong and build decision making skills.
Board games such as community helpers, Monopoly are games that teach child values as well as Mathematical skills
Invest time for music or musical instruments: Learning piano or guitar keeps the child creatively active and also teaches the child to be disciplined.
Happy summers! Happy Vacations!
